Congrats to Preston for reaching his 13th, 14th, and 15th AR goals! He has read almost all of the Harry Potter books! I am so proud of him! Plus, he did A LOT of reading over SPRING BREAK!!!! Great Job Pres!

Preston's Special Lunch

Preston has reached his 11th AR goal! Way to go Pres! When he reached his 7th goal, he decided that he wanted his special lunch to be with Mrs. Smith, our class field student from UALR. She purchased him his favorite food from McDonalds. They had a fabulous time eating together at lunch. Preston was very talkative and had lots of fun! Here are some pictures from his special lunch!
A BIG Thank you goes to Mrs. Smith for taking time out of her busy day to eat with Preston! He loved every minute of it! :)

4th grade says GoodBye to....

December. :( Today is December's last day in our class. We are going to miss her so much, but I am sure that she will love her new school! :) We hope that she keeps in touch with us through this classroom blog!

Preston Loves Harry Potter Books!!!

Congrats to Preston for reaching his 9th and 10th AR Goals!! He has been addicted to the Harry Potter book set! In the past week, he has reached his 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, & 10th goals! That's a lot of reading!!! I am so proud of you Preston!!! He has chosen to eat lunch with either Mrs. Smith, our UALR field 3 studnet or myself! :) Maybe he can have lunch with both of us! I am thinking that sushi is an excellent choice for the menu!!! :)

Spelling Words and Homework Schedule for the Week of 3.9.09

This week in spelling we will be working with open and closed vowels. Students have learned how to determine syllables in each word and then decided if the vowels are long or short. This is an excellent strategy that helps students determine words that they are not familiar with. We will we working closely with these strategies for the remainder of the year!

AR Goals Reached this Week!!

We have been reading, reading, reading in 4th grade this week!!! I am very proud of everyone...they have really developed a love for books!!!

Congratulations to Ja'Kayla for being nominated Student of the Week for 2.23.09. (after a failure to post this blog - I am reposting! Sorry Ja'Kayla)
Ja'Kayla was born here in Little Rock. Her favorite animal is a cat. The person that Ja'Kayla admires the most is her dad! Her favorite book is the current book that she is reading, The Tale of Despereaux (also one of my favorites!) Ja'Kayla's favorite food is Pizza. The place that she most likes in our school is the playground. One wish that she has is to one day be famous! Ja'Kayla believes that the one thing that she does well is READ!

Congrats to Ryan for being nominated as Student of the Week for 3.2.09. (again after a failure to post - I am reposting!!! Sorry Ryan!)Ryan was born here in Little Rock.
