Charlie Needs Your Help!

As most of you have heard, Charlie is our classroom pet. He is a guinea pig that we recieved from a student in our classroom, Bradley! Each week Charlie needs new bedding. This is getting very costly for Mrs. Pilkington. If any parents would like to donate some bedding for him....IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! You can purchase pine shavings for him at Wal-Mart in the Pet Department for $3.97. The children love having him in our classroom....he has become one of the students. They include him in everything. The students will post pictures of him later as one of their projects!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Mrs. Walter leaves Mabelvale

Recently, Mrs. Amy Walter left Mabelvale as a field student through UALR to pursue her internship in Pre-K. Mrs. Walter was a student teacher in my classroom. She came every Friday to our class. Last Friday, December 5, 2008 was her last day at Mabelvale. We all worked really hard to create a slide show for her to tell her how much we appreciated her being at our school. We added music and photos to help her remember us. We were very sad to see her go but we wish her well in her new teaching experience.

Below are photos of Mrs. Walter and our class:

AR Goals Reached

Our AR (Accelerated Reader) Theme this year is "Ice Cream" for Books! When each student reaches their set AR goal they recieve an ice cream scoop to go outside our classroom door on a huge ice cream cone. The class with the most goals at the end of the year not only gets to eat ice cream, but they get to make our very own Mr. Smith into a "human" ice cream cone!!!

I would like to congratulate the following students for reaching their latest AR goals:
Kiana - 6th goal
Preston - 4th goal
Ciamara - 3rd goal
Jose - 3rd goal
Kyle - 2nd goal
Jasmine - 2nd goal

Each of the students received a prize from Mrs. Clark (our librarian), got their pictures taken for the Mabelvale Morning News, and recieved a free personal pan pizza coupon from Pizza Hut from me!!! Congrats Guys!!! Keep up the good work.

Today is the first day of many more new and interesting blogs. I will be posting pictures of what takes place in the classroom, as well as, homework schedules and important dates to remember!
